Arch Cape Beach House

New construction finishes, furniture, art and decor.

This newly constructed Arch Cape beach house is a refined yet grounded coastal retreat perched on the rugged Oregon coastline. As the second home we've designed for this client, the vision was clear: to create a sanctuary that marries modern minimalism with natural Pacific Northwest materials, offering a calming, intentional escape immersed in nature.

Inspired by the wild beauty of the Oregon Coast, this home blends coastal modern interior design with rich textures and elemental materials—plaster walls, wood-clad ceilings, concrete floors, and stone-like slabs—all layered to reflect the environment just outside.

The entryway design sets the tone for the entire home. Charred shou sugi ban pendant lights hang at staggered heights, resembling driftwood suspended in air. This motif introduces the home’s themes of texture, nature, and contrast, creating a sculptural focal point while offering a warm, grounded welcome.

The living room centers around a custom, wide-angled sectional that encourages connection and flow. A curved area rug softens the architecture, while a Sitka Spruce coffee table, handcrafted from a tree removed during construction, offers a deeply personal and site-specific design element.

In collaboration with Henrybuilt, the kitchen design continues the home’s seamless visual story. Walnut systems carry through from the living space, paired with charcoal gray finishes for a palette that is both warm and sophisticated.

The dining room features an angular black wood table that draws attention to the natural grain, paired with rounded chairs to balance the space. The result is inviting, sculptural, and harmonious—perfect for casual meals or coastal dinner parties.

The primary suite is designed as a peaceful hideaway. A floating bed with rounded edges mirrors the shape of the freestanding tub nearby, evoking beach pebbles and coastal calm. Behind the bed’s headboard wall, a compact home office is tucked away—providing functionality without disrupting the serenity of the suite.

The primary bathroom continues the narrative with a floating walnut vanity, travertine and slate inspired slab finishes and a soft sculptural floting bathtub.

Designed to let the ocean view take center stage, the second bedroom is light, minimal, and serene. The adjoining bathroom features floating charcoal cabinetry, pale walls, and clean-lined fixtures, maintaining a sense of visual calm and contrast.

The media room is tailored for immersive comfort, featuring a custom sofa precisely shaped to fit the room’s angles. Floor-to-ceiling drapery softens acoustics, conceals speakers, and enhances the intimate atmosphere—perfect for cozy evenings or movie nights.

The Beach Room is a stylish and functional mudroom that serves as a transitional space between the indoors and the beach. Outfitted with travertine-look tile and indoor shower amenities, it offers an easy place for rinsing off after days on the beach, a mini dog spa and continuinty of materials from the main areas of the home.

This Arch Cape modern beach house is a celebration of organic textures, custom furnishings, and the unique beauty of the Pacific Northwest. It’s a coastal interior design project that balances serenity and sophistication, with every detail—down to the hidden roller shades and layered lighting—designed to enhance the experience of living in harmony with nature.
