Lake Washington

Modern Waterfront

Featured in The Seattle Times, this full-scale remodel of a prominent lakefront residence in Kirkland, Washington, is a study in balancing Pacific Northwest warmth with high-impact modernism. We were tasked with reimagining the interior architecture to better reflect the light and scale of the waterfront setting, moving away from a dark, heavy cabin aesthetic. By layering a foundation of warm neutrals with deliberate brass accents and bold stone, the design achieves a sophisticated residential ease tailored for a client who is an expert in the art of entertaining.

  • The structural transformation is anchored by light vertical-grain oak cabinetry, limestone flooring along the water-facing perimeter, and sheer drapery that softens the architecture without obscuring the view. To support the hosting expertise of the client, we redesigned the kitchen with ceiling-height storage, a brass-wrapped hood, and a dedicated coffee bar with a brass backsplash. This focus on functional luxury continues in the powder room, which features a floating vanity and walls clad in Copenhagen Granite set against bronze smoked mirrors.

The furniture and art curation emphasize minimalist profiles with high-end detailing, including a sculptural sofa and a custom dining table. We commissioned a comprehensive art program for the living spaces, entry, and hall landing, including a custom blue-black ombre mirror for the entry vestibule. The private retreat is completed by a primary suite clad in marble and a guest wet room featuring a grand shower and freestanding tub, ensuring every corner of the home is prepared for guests at a moment’s notice.
