Normandy Park
Restoration
Winner of Luxe Magazine’s Best Use of Color, this Normandy Park, Washington, project is a sophisticated study in merging mid-century heritage with a bold, contemporary pulse. The design respects the original architectural intent of the home while introducing a high-contrast palette and an unapologetic mix of textures. It is an environment built on the tension between the classic and the sculptural, resulting in a residence that feels both grounded and provocatively distinct.

The restoration began with the preservation of the material foundation of the home. Original wood cork floors were meticulously resurfaced, and we retained the existing grasscloth in the primary bedroom and living areas to preserve the tactile history of the structure. A black solid stain on the exterior was brought inward, translating to a chalky, limewash fireplace that serves as a matte anchor for the main living space.
The curation features a deliberate blend of rare vintage finds and iconic mid-century forms, including a classic womb chair and a rare vintage dining table paired with modern chairs. Many of these pieces were sourced by our studio years prior and held in our archives specifically for a project of this caliber. To introduce a layer of modern sophistication, we integrated a custom rug from the Michelle Dirkse Collection alongside surreal photography and abstract minimalist artwork by the client. By commissioning local art and revitalizing vintage silhouettes with new upholstery, we created a rhythmic dialogue between the mid-century heritage of the home and its vibrant, modern identity.
