Kirkland
Modern
Designed for a repeat client moving into a new construction home in Kirkland, Washington, this project is a study in purposeful minimalism. We collaborated closely with the client to modify the original envelope of the home, replacing standard finishes with a refined, custom material palette. Our goal was to carry the warmth of the previous residence of the homeowners into a fresh, high-end interior that feels both brand-new and intimately familiar, avoiding a full remodel while achieving a completely custom aesthetic.

The foundation of the home was reimagined through a series of intentional architectural upgrades, including a custom black soapstone slab fireplace and a redesigned modern stair railing. In the living room, we selected sculptural furniture pieces to provide a playful elegance against the crisp architecture. A vintage travertine coffee table and organic greenery soften the modern lines of the room, creating a space that is art-forward yet livable.
The primary bedroom serves as a serene, textural retreat where depth replaces the need for bold color. Dark Blue grasscloth wallpaper provides a dark, matte backdrop for a striking textural art piece. To ground the room, we designed custom stepped nightstands for symmetry and storage, pairing them with floor-to-ceiling drapery and an upholstered bed. Throughout the residence, our art curation and furniture selection emphasize personal expression, resulting in a space that is at once clean, warm, and deeply personal.
